Course Descriptions

Interested in becoming a Divorce Mediator? Phoenix Strategies, Inc. delivers a comprehensive and hands-on course including parenting plans (child support, allocation of parenting responsibilities, decision making, parenting time), division of assets and debts; taxes; maintenance; marriage dissolution legal process, procedures, and forms; financial and tax ramifications. Help families separate amicably by utilizing the Collaborative, Facilitative, Interest-Based model in a divorce situation. Roleplay scenarios apply the practical knowledge of parenting plans, asset and debt division, taxes and spousal maintenance, and child support worksheets. 40 Hour Basic Mediation is a required prerequisite.

Course Objectives
Learn from experienced divorce mediators on how to guide couples through the process, using Family Law Software, using real scenarios to practice with official Colorado documents.

Curriculum will cover:

  • Legal process and forms for marriage dissolution and legal separation
  • Issues related to the division of assets/liabilities
  • Issues related to maintenance and child support
  • Components of a separation agreement
  • Components and crafting of a parenting plan
  • Tax implications
Prerequisites
40 Hour Basic Mediation training from PSI or any other training organization.

A waiver of prerequisite is available for qualifying candidates.

CLE Credits
Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and ethics credits are approved and available for legal professionals participating in our Basic Mediation and Divorce Mediator courses.

Divorce Mediation $620 + $30 Materials Fee

Many issues may arise as grown children begin to care for and maintain the well-being of their aging parents. Phoenix Strategies, Inc. uses the Collaborative, Facilitative, Interest-based Model to help families work through aging parents' new and differing needs. Mediators will become acquainted with biological, psychological, sociological, spiritual aspects of aging. Students will learn elder rights, legal terminology, and solutions for this unique stage of life. Join us for a three-day course to help the expanding elderly population.

Approved and regulated by the Colorado Department of Higher Education Private Occupational School Board.

Course Objectives
This course is designed to educate mediators on elder development, self-awareness on elder biases, gain strategies to gently mediate with elders, and help resolve conflict in our growing elder population.

  • Gain self-awareness and understand biases and stereotypes associated with aging
  • Reflect on the demographics of the aging population
  • Comprehend the common needs, interests and issues of seniors and family members
  • Differentiate elder care dispute resolution roles and processes from other forms of ADR
  • Management of ethical dilemmas such as diminished capacity, elder abuse and neglect issues
  • Become familiar with community resources for aging

Eldercare Mediation $620 plus $30 for materials/enrollment fees

Phoenix Strategies, Inc. uses a conflict management approach that can be used in your personal life as well as your professional life. This course demonstrates how to bring affected individuals and offenders together collectively in a safe space by using the Standards of Conduct and the Standards of Training and Practice models.

Course Objectives

Participants will learn

  • Define Restorative Justice practice and principles
  • Differentiate between restorative justice and other disputes resolution (DR) practices
  • Gain insight into personal perspectives of victims and offenders
  • Be familiar with the historical movement of
  • Restorative Justice (RJ)
  • Understand victim and offender rights
  • Differentiate between the traditional legal process and a restorative justice approach
  • Realize the RJ benefits for victims, offenders, and the community
  • Experience RJ processes and other Dispute Resolution (DR) processes
  • Define processes for Restorative Conversations, conflict coaching, circles, mediation and peer mediation, and conferencing
  • Know critical indicators for determining appropriateness for conferencing
  • Use strategies and interventions to support appreciation, accountability and empowerment
